Solar Energy - Advice on the Various methods of collecting solar energy.

Solar Energy. For the purposes of the discussions in this site, is that energy which we can extract from the sun's source as a renewable resource. This includes not only directly collected energy from the likes of solar panels, but from windpower, bio-mass and ground heat.

Fossil fuels, which could be construed as energy from the sun stored over millions of years are not included, as this is not renewable in anyones lifetime.

The sun is approximately 93 million miles from planet earth. (How do we know?), It is a huge nuclear fireball. Nuclear fusion in the sun's interior converts atoms of hydrogen into heavier atoms of helium, giving off extreme radiation as it does so. The sun has been burning for millions of years. It is currently over 70% hydrogen, so there is plenty left yet.
